It is with great enthusiasm that we present one of the fastest-rising bands on Greater Boston’s music scene, The Steve DiCecco Band.  The Steve DiCecco Band  features some of New England’s most respected and talented musicians and is steadily building a reputation with their eclectic mix of blues, dancable rock, jazz, and swing.

The Steve DiCecco Band  is fronted by legendary Texas swing phenomena Steve Denney on guitar and vocals.  When talking of Steve, it is difficult to know where to begin.  Originally from San Antonio, Steve cut his chops on the south Texas blues/jazz scene, having spent numerous years on road as well as the studio.  Since moving to Boston in 1997, Steve has played with a host of notable local musicians and vocalists.  This list includes such favorites as the All Stars, Boston Baked Blues, Dr. Harp’s Delta Blues Band, Shirley Lewis, the New Blue Revue, John Putnam, the Yardrockers, and many others.  Steve is a truly versatile performer able to capture the subtlety of a warm jazz ballad, follow it with some serious Texas swing, finally breaking into a truly convincing blues rocker.  There is a quality to his voice that must be seen live to appreciate and his guitar work is nothing short than that of a virtuoso.  You simply must see this San Antonio native, now Boston veteran, and the magic he brings to The Steve DiCecco Band.

The line up continues with bandleader and general manager Steve DiCecco on chromatic harmonica.  Originally out of Providence, R.I., Steve plays solely the chromatic harmonica, the harmonica of choice for the serious jazz player.  And let me tell you fella’s, this ain’t your “slow blues in ‘D’” chromatic; it’s the real McCoy!  One harp, all tunes, all keys.  Steve has studied chromatic harmonica under local jazz harp legend Mike Turk (a direct disciple of Toots Thielmans).  Locally, Steve has performed with a lengthy list of local artists.  Some of the more noteworthy being Chris Stoval Brown, Sam Gintile's Basic Black, the Liz Lannon Band, the Brew Dogs (a.k.a., Tim Gearon's Band), the Shirley Lewis’ Experee-ance, the City Pete Porrier Band, and Weepin’ Willie’s All Stars, to name a few.

Next in The Steve DiCecco Band's  line up is Ed “Face” Korman on keyboards.  New York born, “Face” is a 1985 graduate of the Berklee College of Music and exhibits the talent one has come to expect of such training.  Within the circle of his musician contemporaries, the buzz is “Man, that Eddie Korman has ears down to the floor!”.  “Face”’s heartfelt playing becomes instantly apparent as he begins to tinkle the keys.  His amazing versatility shines as he tastefully supports the eclectic mix of styles played by the band, moving smoothly from blues, to jazz, to swing, to funk, and back.  “Face” has some truly impressive working credits via his association with Harvey Robbins Productions including the Harptones, Diamonds, Belmonts, Frankie Lymons’ Teenagers, Big Bopper Jr., the Marsels and a long list of local notables.  In addition to his musical talents, “Face” provides the band with a healthy dose of teen appeal.

Jacques Raymond is The Steve DiCecco Bands's  outstandingly versatile bassist.  Jacques started playing bass at a ripe old fourteen years of age and has never looked back.  This veteran touring musician has been seen on the roads of the Gulf Coast, St. Louis, Muscle Shoals, Montreal, and many places of which I’ve never heard.  Jacques is an extremely versatile bassist, moving smoothly between such diverse musical genres as jazz, 60’s soul, blues, rock, and pop.  This versatility adds dramatically to the chemistry of the band, permitting effective performance of their unusual mix of blues, rock, and jazz styles.  More recently, Jacques makes his home on the Boston music scene and is one of the areas most sought after bassists.  Jacques' credits include such greats as Ashford & Simpson, B.J. Thomas, Jay & the Americans, Menagerie, and even a klezmer band.  The Steve DiCecco Band  is truly lucky to have him in the line up.

Last, but certainly not least, is local drumming legend Jeff "JJ" Armstrong.  As the band's second Berklee College of Music graduate, what can we say about JJ that has not already been said countless time already?  Whether it be drum or cymbal, box or basket, or even the dash of his car; JJ can be found pounding out the rhythms.  His crisp back beat and dependable grooves get people on their feet and close on the dance floor.  Locally, JJ is a life-long veteran of the local scene having shared the stage with such greats as Jerry Portnoy, Ronnie Earl, Mike Dainello, Nick Adams, the Black Diamond Band, Kenny and the Night Shift, the Paramounts, and many others.  In addition to his outstanding mastery of all those subtle things drummers do, JJ is a master at getting couples to hold each other when they dance.

In short, The Steve DiCecco Band  has a bit of something onto which everyone in the audience can grab hold.  Expect to hear a playlist that we believe you will find highly entertaining and truly diversified.  With numerous up-coming gigs scheduled this season, The Steve DiCecco Band  will continue to thrill audiences far and wide.  As fans grow throughout the area, one message is heard loud and clear, The Steve DiCecco Band  simply must be heard!

Rock On!
